Highlighted Artist - Adolfo Romero

Chilean visual artist , songwriter , poet and cultural manager . Born in Arica in 1975. Currently residing in North America.

His visual work includes a series of techniques that are always searching for symbolic relationships inside and reunion with its origins in the social world and history . About this work: " My visual proposal brings forth the conscious encounter of man and his relationship with life through an iconographic transformation of his inner projections. " Here arises the necessity to register stages of existence as archives of the individual and collective origin , understanding the "I" as an integration of both of these in the process of discovery. Seeking for cognitive direction in the process. The idea of what is advocated as an induction to the yearnings beyond the art work itself is sustained.

The creative act , both in symbolism and expression, serves as an axis in which there is an influence over a certain reality . I yield the aesthetic object as part of a sequence that is triggered into the tangible reality , something that goes beyond the technical process , promoting the destiny of various ideas. It is something that interacts with everything in its surroundings , and places itself from a contingent context in the midst of the developments towards the future successors that have not been cultivated.

A Fashion Story

Two models, four dancers, a little girl, and a bulldog walked down a sunny path dressed in high fashion. Have you heard this one before? It´s no joke but rather a fashion story.

The on-screen talent posing post-shoot along with Carol Mier
On a hot day in June, Parallel Artistic puts its talents and resources to good use by producing a video documentary and associated photo shoot for one of Denver´s premier fashion designers. The internationally recognized Carol Mier, owner of Carol Mier Fashion, combined forces with some of her city´s talented artist to show the world what she´s all about. It´s collaboration, it´s co-creation, it´s art as publicity.

The incredibly fast paced project started with styling by Carol, and the looks were finished off by Julio Cerros´ (makeup) and Lorenzo Martínez (hair). Shot in four iconic locations around Denver´s Santa Fe art district, the dancers of 6Degrees Colaborative, dancer turned spokesmodel Xitlali, model Bianka Tarango, and other collaborators told the story of "The world dressed in Carol Mier" as they injected everyday situations with larger than life movement and incredible fashion.

.gif that

Art is serious business, but that doesn't mean you can't have a little fun with it. Here are some .gifs of my friends performing during the last couple of weeks with a little something extra added.

When you have to clean house but want to be fabulous at the same time.
When you show up for a party and realize you're overdressed.
When people are trying to have a meeting but you just have to be the center of attention for a minute.
When you look so good that you can tell people to shut up and they don't care.

When you want people to know that they can't have you.

Highlighted Artist - Rachel Hergert

Highlighted Artist - Rachel Hergert

Rachel as an inspired young artist
Rachel is a native of Colorado and a lover of all things creative. She has been singing ever since she was a little girl, has always enjoyed art, and quit soccer to start her dance training at age 11. Rachel is trained primarily in ballet and lyrical; her current favorite is contemporary because of the freedom of movement and expression. For Rachel, dance is so much more than simply technique. It is an expression of the human soul, reaching to depths that mere words cannot. Creativity for Rachel is a language which crosses all barriers of race, creed, age, gender, or social status. It is an avenue to bring light into dark places and spark inspiration and hope.

In university Rachel continued to dance as she pursued her psychology degree, and started an annual summer dance camp for underprivileged girls in her community. She was amazed to see the power of dance as a way to communicate identity and purpose into the hearts of these girls. Rachel decided to leave university and become a full-time volunteer missionary in 2011, with Youth with a Mission. She travelled to South Africa, Mozambique, London, and Amsterdam, and lived in Kona, Hawaii for a year. In each place, countless opportunities arose to reach communities through the arts. From painting in the streets of London and Denver, to teaching dance in Hawaii, to creating music in Amsterdam—each moment only reminded Rachel of the power of the arts to bring transformation and to speak the message of hope to broken people: orphans, widows, addicts, the poor and the needy of all backgrounds. In 2013, after experiencing some pretty serious burnout, Rachel returned to the mainland. In the midst of a season of many questions and fears, Rachel was invited to join a touring dance company based out of Montana. In this company (Axios Dance Company), Rachel’s passion was renewed; art awakened her once again. The tour travelled from coast to coast, hitting cities like Portland, Salt Lake City, Denver, and Harrisburg, PA, while visiting smaller towns in-between. A few months later, Rachel returned to Montana for a second tour which focused on several locations along the West Coast and throughout California. The company used dance and music as a platform to speak about important subjects like identity and personal freedom. They performed in schools, churches, theatres, conferences, parks, and even in the streets.

One of Rachel's many talents, we find her singing to express her faith.
Now Rachel is continuing to fuel her love for the arts while pursuing a career in Special Education. She uses art and music whenever she can to inspire students and young people. She recently finished an apprenticeship with Avatar Movement Dance Company, a professional contemporary/jazz company in Denver, and was a part of their production, “Cosmic Coincidence”. Rachel is currently experimenting with different dance styles and dabbling in musical theatre; her passion is to be a light and a breath of fresh air to the dance and performing arts community in Denver. She always seeks to express her faith and to share hope through every opportunity which comes her way—be it dance, visual art, acting, teaching, writing, or music. She is very excited to embrace each new step of the journey, is eager to learn and grow, and is forever thankful for the gift of creativity!
Rachel has performed at a variety of locations showcasing her talent.

Highlighted artist - Abram Palmer

An entrepreneur at heart and experienced marketer and sales professional at an international level, Abram Palmer realized the need for quality artistic productions and education when he helped to bring Parallel Artistic to the United States in January of 2015. Abram is the driving force behind some of the company´s great works and has even participated as an actor and on-screen talent. He´s active behind the scenes making sure that everything comes together – a businessman turned producer of sorts.

When Abram graduated from the University of Wyoming, with degrees in marketing and business administration, he made a bold move to spend some time in South America. During this two-year experience, he not only learned a new language and culture, but also became involve in a whole new artistic world. He worked in musical theatre, appeared in a reality show, and starred in a commercial for an international brand in South America.

His goal is to help connect the artistic world with the analytical world. Art is a powerful mechanism for social change, but can´t make much of a difference if it doesn´t arrive to a great number of people. That´s why it takes people from various backgrounds to put together and get the word out about these productions.  Art production as publicity requires artists as well as dedicated business professionals. Abram Palmer is proud to represent Parallel Artistic as its CEO.

Transition Theater at Shamanic Boom

Shamanic Boom Festival - Art is a Process

On Friday the 27th of May 2016, a pair of performers set off from their homes in Denver, CO to join their Transition Theater counterparts and give a great show at the annual Shamanic Boom Immersion Festival. Transition Theater gave an intimate and extremely heartfelt performance during the first night of the multi-day event. This is the short adventure as seen by two of the dancers, Lorenzo Martínez and Xitlai.

Art is a process. The end performance is only a very small portion that most people see. This means that each artistic display has its own series of adventures leading up to the big event.  There is a lot of work that goes into putting on a show, and sometimes the journey to the venue can be equally exciting. From Denver, the Shamanic Boom festival takes place about an hour and a half to the north. Grant Farms hosted the spiritual gathering and brought in participants and "Shamanic Boomers" from the surrounding areas.

On the way from Aurora, CO to Wellington, CO, the two performers made a couple of stops to take advantage of the journey and look for inspiration in unusual ways. The first stop was the Budweiser Brewery of Fort Collins where we learned about the process and history of making beer. Just as I mentioned before, knowing more about the process can help the user better appreciate the end result. This is true in beer, art, and life in general.

A selfie as we started the Budweiser Brewery tour

After a post-tour picnic, we were off to the next adventure, the Rock Garden of Fort Collins - Colorado´s Stonehenge. With no one around to tell us, "no" we gave ourselves a guided tour around the beautifully sculpted rock formations. We could only admire the final artwork and hypothesize about how the works were created. It was a quick stop before heading out on the road again with renewed inspiration and excitement for the coming show.

Inside of the dome as it was being prepared for the
Transition Theater performance

We arrived at the festival a short time later and found that it was made up of a tent village for vendors and a separate camping area for festival attendees. It was a very inviting atmosphere in which every person greeted one another with a beautiful smile and willingness to help  in any way. The love and feeling of acceptance by all was perhaps the festival´s greatest quality.

At the end of about a city block of vendor tents lined with several healing and artistic services a large dome was constructed as the festival began. This building of the structure was, in itself, was yet another example of the brotherly love present in every aspect. Groups of people climbed up and down the dome readying it for the many great performers that were to share their talent during the coming days. Rain began to pour just as the dome was being completed. Technicians, performers, and crew huddled inside the green room tents to the side of the main dome preparing for their upcoming show as the ground became wet around their feet. Everyone seemed in the zone readying themselves for the great show.

final preparations covering the dome
Finally everything was in place. It was dark, cold, and wet. The inside of the tent began to fill will the mystic music and visualizations from the Transition Theater. Dancer Lorenzo Martinez entered the makeshift stage of dirt and began a performance channeling emotions of the past. He included the standing audience in her performance walking in between them calling their attention to his passionate story. Martinez pulled a decorative flower from his turban and dance with it appreciating its beauty. His performance ended as his buried the flower, symbolizing his recently departed mother beneath the dirt and peacefully moving to one side. The music and visualizations continued for a while as the audience appreciated the unexpected beauty of Transition Theater.
